The Story of Owethu

Owethu 10 October 2008 - 4 November 2008

This is the story of a little girl named Owethu.
A name that means "Ours" given not by her mommy,
but out of shock and disbelief by the community of Witbank.
Owethu, a newborn was found 10 October 2008 in a longdrop by a five year old girl.
This story burdened another mothers heart. She heard the calling...
She had no information, no picture, nothing but hearsay to hold onto.
She cried for this little girl before Father God. Her family was invited to attend a sermon in a church
in Witbank. She got a chance to give her testimony of another miracle
(How she and her family adopted a black baby girl.)
Afterwards she challenged the community to rise up and take responsibility
for the orphans in their midst.
Can you feel how God used these tiny fingers of Owethu, to grasp onto hearts,
without her eyes to see the works of the Holy Spirit?
A newspaper from Witbank made its way to her, on the front page was a huge picture of Owethu.
She knew God was busy with a plan of life giving and not destruction.
Tuesday morning 4 November 2008, this other mother and a friend went to pray for Owethu,
for she received the following: "Why must I live if nobody wants me?"
A Christian doctor passed by. He took them directly to the baby. The mommy
could enter the Neonatal I.C.U. ward to pray. She saw life in this little body of Owethu.
Her friend entered and prayed, God gave her a picture.
This is what she saw:
"I saw the baby lifted up and up and God's glory shone on her face."
She knew this baby was loved by God.
Mommy took a brand new vest and wrote a message for the baby:
"I will live, I will not die, so I can tell of God's work." P.S. Love Mommy.
Owethu died that afternoon, knowing she was a vessel in God's hand to shake
a community to accountability. She is with God right now.
Owethu had a story to tell.
Her short life of nearly four weeks had a purpose,
God will use this testimony to teach and inform others.

So will you pray and help us to teach others that there are options?
You don't need to face a crisis pregnancy alone!
